Siesta Key Waterfront Property Homes and Condominiums

Siesta Key Real Estate
Siesta Key is 8 miles of beach and bay front property, with canals honeycombing through many neighborhoods as well as condos (some with boat docks) and shops. Siesta Key is connected by two bridges to Sarasota.
Real Estate on Siesta Key includes single family homes and
condominiums. It is a great time to
purchase a home or condo on Siesta Key. The gulf side offers beautiful white
sand that gently slopes to the azure gulf waters. The bay side has both homes
and condos with docks for boating.

North Siesta Key
"The Village" is on the north end of Siesta Key, with shops, restaurants and fun places to explore. There are condos on the north end of Siesta within a short walk to the Village as well as the beach. Crescent Beach, on the north end of Siesta Key, is rated in the top 10 beaches in the world, with sand as fine and white as sugar. The sand is quartz crystal and never gets hot. The largest neighborhood of single family homes on Siesta Key is on the north end.
Our favorite sand bar to anchor on is straight west in the Gulf of Mexico. It is quite a ways out and the water is waist high. The waters are crystal clear and snorkeling is great here. The waterway on the north end of the key is Big Pass. That is where I took the manatee photos.

South Siesta Key
On the south end of Siesta you will drive under tree canopies, passing homes and neighborhoods with lush foliage, mature trees and even some untouched land. Turtle Beach is on the far south end. The beach is named for the turtles that come ashore and lay eggs here, you will see many turtle nests marked during the summer months. The sand on this beach is easier for the turtles to dig their nests. There is a large public parking lot for Turtle Beach. The properties further south are condominiums and a small neighborhood of homes on a private sand road. They have had beach erosion so they have filled in with rocks and the beach is not completely open. Just past the homes is Midnight Pass, which was filled in during the 1980's, but is going to be re-opened in the next few years. That area of beach is Potter Park, currently accessible only by boat. South of this area is Casey Key.

The Beaches
The beaches are refreshingly natural, with protected wild sea oats and mangroves providing a protective habitat for the scores of native island birds that share the island, as well as the dolphins, manatees and other aquatic wildlife living just offshore.
Siesta Key was chosen "Best Overall in the 1987 International Sand Contest. The world wide competition included entries from throughout the world. Exotic ports like the Grand Bahamas, Barbados and Antigua rivaled for the honored title of number one. The Sand of Siesta Key was judged by David Aubrey, Director of Coastal Research at the renowned Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute in Massachusetts, to be the whitest and finest in texture. The Siesta Key beaches could perhaps be called "The Crystal Beaches", for they are composed of billion upon billions of tiny crystals. The geology department of Harvard University found the sand to be 99% pure quartz. Siesta Key is proud of this world class title, though not surprised, one walk on the sugary soft sands of Siesta Key’s beaches will tell you why.
